About Me
Saksith Saiyasombut (ศักดิ์สิทธิ์ ไสยสมบัติ) is an award-winning broadcast journalist based in Bangkok and Thailand Correspondent for CNA, a Singapore-based English language news network that aims to deliver comprehensive news coverage of Asia.
With over 15 years of experience in journalism, Saksith’s reporting provides insightful and in-depth coverage of Thailand's complex and often tumultuous political scene, as well as the latest economic and social developments in this Southeast Asian country.
He has covered major events in Thailand such as the passing of King Bhumibol Adulyadej in 2016, the 2018 Tham Luang Cave Rescue, the general elections in 2019 and 2023, and the 2020-21 anti-government protests.
Saksith’s and his team's documentary "CNA Correspondent: They're Coming Home" on the release of the Thai hostages held captive in Gaza was honored "Best Current Affairs Programme Made in Asia" at the ContentAsia Awards 2025.
Before joining CNA, Saksith launched his international journalism career as a Thai political blogger in 2010. Through his “Siam Voices” blog on Asian Correspondent, he quickly gained recognition for his incisive analysis and commentary on Thai politics. He has also appeared as a political analyst and commentator on global outlets including Al Jazeera English, BBC, and DW News.
Saksith is originally from Bremen, Germany, where he briefly worked as a local newspaper reporter for Weser Report, before pursuing a degree in Southeast Asian Studies at the University of Hamburg.
